Features:
A transformer is an electrical device used to change the size of AC voltage and to achieve the transmission and conversion of electric energy through mutual induction. The transformer is mainly composed of two or more mutually insulated coils (i.e. windings) and a magnetic core (i.e. iron core). The coil at the input end is called the primary side, and the coil at the output end is called the secondary side. Electric energy is transferred between the primary and secondary sides through mutual induction.
According to the purpose and structural characteristics, transformers can be divided into many types, including:
1. Power transformer: Used for power conversion in power systems and industrial power equipment, converting high voltage to low voltage or low voltage to high voltage.
2. Distribution transformer: used for power distribution in urban and rural power grids, converting the high voltage of the transmission grid into the low voltage required by users.
3. Transformer: It is used to measure and detect parameters such as current or voltage without changing the voltage.
4. Isolation transformer: It mainly plays the role of isolation, completely isolating the input and output ends to prevent electrical leakage and potential electrical hazards.
5. Autotransformer: It completes voltage conversion by sharing part of the coils in a winding and is suitable for situations where a relatively small transformation ratio is required.
Transformers are widely used in various fields such as industry, home, communication, medical treatment, transportation, etc., and are an indispensable and important part of electrical equipment. Transformers can realize functions such as power transmission, voltage rise and fall, power conversion, etc., provide stable power supply for various electrical equipment, and play an important role in the power system.
